Katie Weiss Porter
Katie hails from Long Island and moved to Atlanta. There she began producing short films and worked as an assistant director and as a producer’s assistant on several rap music videos. Her work took her to New Orleans in 2007 and later to Los Angeles. She received best film honors for her short film work. Katie produced her first feature film, the psychological thriller Implanted (Skylight Cinema, 2013), with filmmaker Thomas Verrette in Atlanta. In Los Angeles, she produced her second feature, Delivery (Type AB Films, 2014), as well as commercials and pilots.
She has worked and studied under some of the industry’s top producers and directors, including Donald De Line (Green Lantern, Warner Bros.), Lorenzo di Bonaventura (GI Joe 2, Paramount), Carl Rinsch (47 Ronin, Universal), Kevin King and Mikael Hafstrom (Escape Plan, Summit), Ramin Bahrani (99 Homes, NoruzFilms), and Nicolas Chartier and Craig Flores at Voltage Pictures (Don Jon, Dallas Buyers Club). After working in production and film development, she took a turn in a new direction with the New Orleans-based international company, HUKA Entertainment, in special events and music festival production. Katie now looks forward to dedicating her time to her New Orleans community, fundraising for the foundation’s programs, and enjoying her new surroundings amongst enthusiasts of her other passions – food & wine. You may see Katie out and about and never know it because she loves any excuse to throw on a costume.
